MFH-Pulses is active in various projects as an expert in pulse and plant protein.
Examples of projects in which MFH-Pulses is participating:
- Faba-Tex® 60 MFH-Pulses developed this textured faba bean protein in collaboration with Multiflour. The product contains 60% protein. An example of this is the use of faba bean texturate in vegetarian hamburgers. MFH-Pulses has contributed a chapter to the book Sustainable Protein Sources, published by Elsevier (chapter 10 on lupin beans).
Protein 2FoodEU. Led by the University of Copenhagen, many European universities, institutes and businesses,
such as MFH-Pulses, are working to develop new ingredients, such as lentil protein isolate and high moisture
extruded faba protein and have progressed on to foodstuffs made from plant protein (from faba beans, lupin beans,
quinoa and amaranth).
- RAAK-PRO Pulse MFH-Pulses and other businesses, led by NIZO are working with students at HAS Den Bosch to develop new ingredients (from faba beans and pea) and new products for example fermented products from faba beans.
Growing Green Proteins (Flevoland Provincial Government) is a pilot study on
the cultivation, application and sale of faba beans. The largest customer is Herba Ingredients in Belgium.
MFH-Pulses trained Herba in everything they needed to know about faba beans. (Herba, like Lassie, is a
subsidiary of the Spanish Ebro Group, active in rice and pasta.)
- FoodLab Pulses (ZLTO) How can we get more Dutch pulses on to our plates? https://www.zlto.nl/foodlab-pulses
- Zeeuws Biobased Protein Sustainable proteins from Zeeland faba beans. The customer is Meatless, that makes texturate from faba beans.
